Aging with Grace: Florence Ita-Giwa Shares Her Secret

The Special Adviser to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa has said the secret to her looking young and vibrant despite her age is watching what she eats.

'Mama Bakassi' as she is fondly called said: “I eat to live. That means I don’t eat just anything. Some people live to eat by taking whatever comes their way. I pay adequate attention to my body through routine exercises and medical checkups.”

Senator Ita-Giwa, who turned 71 in February, was elected Senator for Cross River South district of Cross River State at the birth of the 4th Republic.

The ex-wife of late Dele Giwa, the founding Editor of Newswatch Magazine, since leaving office on May 2003 has continued to champion a noble cause which seeks to draw the attention of the government and international bodies to the plight of displaced Bakassi residents.
