PMB VS GEJ (Part 2)

●As Anambra Decide

The two gladiators in the 2015 Presidential election President Muhammadu Buhari and his predecessor Goodluck Ebele Jonathan were the centre of attraction as both were in Anambra on the 15th and 16th respectively for their parties final rallies to boost support for Tony Nwoye and Oseloka Obaze in today's gubernatorial election. APC rally was held in Awka while the PDP chose Onitsha.

For both men, they desperately want Anambra. For PMB, getting Anambra will further help his masterplan to break the PDP stronghold in the South East especially now that he is extending hands of fellowship to the poeple of the region. Already Imo State is with the party, so adding Anambra will be a major boost ahead of 2019.

PMB's romance with Ebonyi State, his first port of call during his visit of the South East since May 29, 2015 could spring the move to break South East in favour of Mr. President going by the body language of Ndi Ebonyi especially Gov. Dave Umahi and his beautiful wife who ensured that PMB's visit was very eventful. In politics you never can say never. At least all those screaming "He (PMB) cannot come to the South East were the same people who took care of logistic arrangements and even "dusted" the seat and table Mr. President occupied during his reception in Abakaliki. So expect the unexpected.

On his part GEJ wants Anambra to tow the lines of Enugu, Abia and Ebonyi by joining the PDP. Though, there is this believe that APGA under Willie Obiano is more of the voice of Jacob but the hand of Esau. Suggesting that the governor is more of PDP in his dealings and activities even in his APGA robe. But like an observer argued, "if the APC uses the Federal might to support Obiano in this election and there is a bargain that he must defect after his victory...The governor will surely jump at such offer. He won't want to be with Peter Obi in PDP following their cold war." Meanwhile, Obi was present at the PDP rally in Onitsha.

With the reinstatement of Obiano's security details on the order of PMB, it could be a game of horse trading..."If I rub your back, you will in turn, rub my back". However GEJ is banking on the ongoing repairs and stitches on the umbrella to accommodate Obiano and Obi once this election is over. But will Obiano be convinced that a victory for Obaze is a victory for him? The answer is a big NO even as Ndi Anambra may dump APGA, reject PDP and spit on APC to embrace Osita Chidoka and the UPP. It must be said at this point that Chidoka is an offshoot of PDP having served as FRSC Corp Marshal and later Aviation Minister under GEJ.

Indeed both PMB and GEJ will prefer Obiano to win this election instead of either of their candidates and parties. However, should this standpoint favour Obiano then, he holds the ace on choice of defection to either PDP or APC especially now that there is a new crack on the wall of APGA with Emeka Ojukwu's defection to APC. Obiano if you ask me, is already wielding the broom after this election.
