Man docked for infecting Pregnant wife with HIV

A 48-year-old Zimbabwean illegal gold panner, popularly known as ‘Umakorokoza’ was recently dragged to court by his wife for allegedly infecting her with HIV after keeping his status a secret.
The shocking discovery had left the woman devastated, which informed why she sought for redress.
It is reported that the woman who had been impregnated by the accused man went to the clinic for a medical check-up where she was tested for HIV and was found to be positive.
The man appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Sharon Rosemani facing a charge of transmission of HIV.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Prosecuting, Nkathazo Dlodlo alleged that the two are husband and wife. He said sometime in June at Manor Hotel, along corner 8th Avenue and Lobengula Street, the two who were in a relationship had consensual sexual inter course without protection.
It is said that the woman later reported her husband to the police, leading to his arrest.
“I suspected that he was cheating for a long time following his change in behaviour and lack of interest when it comes to sex. I was surprised when I learnt that he was hiding such a thing,” said the woman.
