Man U gets approval to sign Madrid’s Varane for £52m

Jose Mourinho's side have been told they can sign Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane if they are willing to part with £52million, according to Diario Gol.
The France international made his breakthrough at the Bernabeu under Jose Mourinho during his time in charge, and it seems the Portuguese has been asking Florentino Perez about signing him.
United could do with more options in defence after some unconvincing form from the likes of Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo, while Eric Bailly has had his injury troubles.
Diario Gol claim Mourinho has asked Perez about signing Varane, and that the Madrid president has agreed to let him go for a fee of £52m.
It remains to be seen if that will prove too high for United, but it seems decent value in this market for a promising centre-back at just the right point of his career.
While Varane surely still has his best years ahead of him, he’d also bring plenty of experience with him to Old Trafford after being involved with Real since a young age and lifting three Champions League titles among other major honours.
Real may well end up regretting losing the 24-year-old, but he hasn’t quite been as much of a regular in Zinedine Zidane’s starting XI this season.
