40-year-old in Police Net for stealing 40 cartons of cigarettes

A 40-year-old Ghanaian has been nabbed by the Police in the Easter Region of the country for allegedly stealing 40 cartons of cigarettes, worth GH¢39.000.00, Ghana Web reports.
The suspect, Emmanuel Boateng who was picked up by the newly commissioned Juaben Municipal Police command, works as a sales executive at Nkawkaw for Safe Gold Trading Ventures limited, a Cigarettes distribution company.
The complainant and CEO of the organisation, Frank Onyinah Sefah, had noticed significant shortfalls in sales level and had called the attention of Boateng to it, but the latter had failed to give sufficient reasons for the disparity.
Not convinced by his excuses, the CEO carried out an inventory and realised about 40 cartons of the Cigarettes worth GH¢39.000.00 could not be accounted for.
Mr. Sefah reported the issue to the police, which necessitated the arrest of Boateng, who owned up to being responsible for the missing cartons.
He has since been arraigned before the Koforidua Circuit Court “B” on charges of stealing by Prosecuting Officer, Chief Inspector Solomon Keelson but was granted bail.
