Man in court for allegedly stealing phone from altar

A 26-year-old man, Toyin Sunday, was on Monday arraigned by the police at the Chief Magistrates’ Court, in Badagry for reportedly stealing a phone from the altar while visiting church.
The present market value of the phone, which is said to belong to one Noah Gbeliho is about N7,000.
According to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the prosecutor, Inspector Akpan Ikem, informed the court that the crime had taken place on Valentine’s Day at the Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Akorokoji area of Seme, in Badagry.
Ikem, who said the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Code of Lagos State, 2011, added that the complainant saw the accused pilfering the phone before he left the premises of the church.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Chief Magistrate Jimoh Adefioye granted the accused bail of N20,000 and a surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned till March 12.
