Man who tied up and stoned elderly man to death over $2 debt jailed for 18 years

The 35-year-old man, who tied to a tree and stoned to death a senior Zimbabwean citizen over a $2 debt, has been sentenced to 18 years imprisonment, by a High Court in the state capital, Harare, according to
Justice Joseph Musakwa delivering the court's verdict on Friday, said Teurai Tsarwe (35) who hails from Zambe village would serve the maximum sentence without an option of a fine.
The victm, 65-year-old Samson Mutsunguma before the fateful incident which happened June 15th  was said to owe the suspect $2.
Tsarwe was first arraigned on February 15 before Justice Musakwa on murder charges.
The state Prosecutor Jonathan Chingwinyiso told the court the accused was seen assaulting the now-deceased by a neighbour, Nyasha Machemedze who raised an alarm, causing the suspect to flee.
The matter was reported to the police, leading to the accused’s arrest.
A postmortem established that the death was as a result of head injuries.
