An Owerri family was on Thursday thrown into grieve
after their daughter, Queendaline Ekezie, a 15-year-old pupil of Army Day
Secondary School, Owerri, Imo State died out of exhaustion following a
punishment the soldiers on duty had issued her, for coming late to school.
Miss Ekezie,
according to reports had been asked to frog-jump repeatedly until she collapsed,
she died at the hospital where she was rushed to.
The
father of the deceased, Mr. Hyginus Ekezie, slumped after hearing the news, and
so was rushed to the community hospital nearby.

Metro gathered that Queendaline, who was in Junior Secondary School 3, was with
another pupil, Miss Delight Aguocha, a JSS 2 pupil, when the un-fateful incident
happened.
Aguocha alluded
the severity of the punishment killed her friend.
She said
the victim “Who could no longer walk, was carried into the principal’s car and
brought to the army hospital within the barracks.”
The
friend said Queendaline was given an injection and later put on a drip.
“After
they put on the drip, she started vomiting blood. Blood was spurting out of her
nostrils, mouth and ears. I called the teacher to inform her and she alerted a
nurse who said her condition had worsened,” she added.
