Black Panther surpasses expectations; overshoots $500m mark in two weeks

Marvel Studio’s latest flick, Black Panther over the weekend grossed an additional $65m bringing to a total over $500 million it has made in the theatres since its release 17 days ago.
By this feat, the Ryan Coogler directed movie now stands as the 10th highest-domestic-grossing movie in history.
Analysts say the latest development points to the fact that it will dim the record of the film occupying the number 9 position currently-the ‘Beauty and the Beast’, which was released in 2017 and eventually made $504m domestically soon.
The superhero film may even pass The Avengers, which made $623m domestically in 2012 and is the highest-grossing Marvel film of all time.
The film has already notched several box office feats. It brought in $242m domestically in its four-day opening weekend just behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Those numbers make Black Panther the fifth largest opening of all time, and the top February opening weekend.
