Civil Defense place 500 personnel in schools across Borno

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Borno Command, on Friday disclosed it had placed 500 of its personnel in schools across the state to enhance security in public schools.
The State Commandant of the corps, Ibrahim Abdullahi, disclosing this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) said they were deployed to seven of the 22 liberated local government areas of the state.
According to Abdullahi, this was done in keeping with the instructions of the corps’ Commander-General, Abdullahi Gana, which stipulated that schools in the North-East be provided with security and protected.
Abdullahi also hinted that they are not doing this alone as its agency is working in collaboration with other security apparatus in Nigeria to make sure that the lives and properties of the citizens are protected.
His words: “following the incident of abduction of school girls in Yobe, the Command Headquarters directed immediate deployment of personnel to schools in the state.
“This include special armed, counter terrorism and anti-riot quad, bomb detection and disposal unit, intelligence, detective as well as rescue and medical teams,” he said.
