Grandfather busted with 525 bags of weed concealed in ceiling

The Edo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Monday busted a 64-year-old man who had concealed in the ceiling of his home, 280 bags of substance believed to be cannabis sativa (weed).
Aside those found in Daniel Idemudia-a grandfather’s house located behind the Tipper Garage in Egor, Egor LGA, another 245 sacks were discovered stocked at a warehouse in Ugwella-Gidi village, Ovia South West Local Government Area.
These seizures bring to a total of 525 the number of sacks confiscated, all weighing about 5,650 kgs.
The State Commander of NDLEA, Mr. Buba Wakawa, who attributed this breakthrough to reliable intelligence, said “We were shocked to discover 280 sacks of dried weeds suspected to be cannabis sativa all hidden inside the ceiling of the building. This discovery will serve as a warning to others that their warehouses will be discovered and the drugs seized.”
The suspect, PA Daniel Idemudia, who admitted he knew the banned substances were stocked in his home, said they belonged to a friend.
“A friend of mine kept the cannabis inside the ceiling of my house. The house was built by my son who resides in Europe. He promised to handsomely reward me after selling the drugs,” he said.
Wakawa, who promised the men of his command, will leave no stone unturned in rounding up other members of the cartel, appealed to members of the public with useful information that could lead to the recovery of drugs and arrest of traffickers, to provide such information to the Agency.
