Mother and daughter perish in mudslide

A mother and her daughter were sadly buried by a mudslide On Monday Morning in West Java, Indonesia, reports.
The woman, 40-year-old Damah and daughter, 14-year-old Puja, according to the province’s branch of the National Search and Rescue Agency suffered the ill-fate after a heavy rain this morning forced the mud uphill to slide down, engulfing the victims’ house as well as three other buildings.
The Agency’s spokesperson, Mr. Joshua Banjarnahor said the rescue attempt which was carried out by a combined team made up of its staff, some from West Bandung Disaster Mitigation Agency, and the country’s Military, as well as those from the local authorities was only able to recover the teenager’s body at around 11 a.m.
The team had to halt the search at 4:30 p.m. because of heavy rain, he said.
Joshua added that the terrain, where the mudslide occurred, was still unstable and this could pose a risk to personnel who are searching for the second victim. “We will continue our operation tomorrow.”
The team said heavy rains in West Bandung since Sunday evening had caused the mudslide, which occurred at 6 a.m. on Monday.
