Olisa Metuh arrives court in wheelchair, begs to travel to UK for treatment

Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, on Wednesday, returned to court for the continuation of his trial, however this time in wheelchair, report Daily Post.
Metuh, who has a 7-count charge preferred against him and his firm, Destra Investment Limited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), while there prayed the Abuja Federal High Court grants him leave to travel to the United Kingdom (UK) for urgent medical attention.
Making the plea on his behalf, his counsel- Mr. Emeka Etiaba, SAN, said Metuh’s health condition has worsened in the last two months, which explains why he was ferried to court in a stretcher on February 9.
Tendering as exhibit, a letter from one Dr. Adrian T. H. Kasey, a Neurosurgeon at Wellington Hospital in London, Etiaba stressed that it was expedient his client made the trip.
However, trial Justice Abang requested both the prosecution and defence lawyers to address him on whether the court could grant Metuh’s request considering that he previously dismissed two similar applications on May 25, 2016 and on February, 2017.
The EFCC alleges that Chief Metuh had prior to last Presidential election, received the sum of N400million from the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, without executing any contract.
