Xabi Alonso risks 5-year jail term for tax fraud

ex-Spanish international, Xabi Alonso may spend the next s years of his life behind the slammer, if the plea by his country’s prosecutor is granted by the court.
Disclosing this on Wednesday, the indicter hinted he is pushing for a sentence of at least five years imprisonment and a fine of 4 million Euros (£3.5 million) for the former Bayern Munich midfielder who had been accused of tax fraud.
Alonso was said to have defrauded the state about 2 million euros between 2010 and 2012.
The prosecutor in his petition also asked that the sentence be extended to Alonso's financial advisor Ivan Zaldua Azcuenaga and the administrator of consultancy shell company, Ignasi Maestre Casanova.
