Zookeeper clawed to death by lion after he forgot to lock cage

A 28-year-old zookeeper was clawed to death by a lion after he forgot to keep its cage properly locked at the Nicolas Bravo zoo in Tulancingo, in Hidalgo, Mexico.
Gustavo Serrano Carabajal had been cleaning the lion’s cage before the incidence.
After the sanitation work, the 22-year-old animal had managed to get out of its enclosure pounced on the unsuspecting Carabaja. Kimba, as it is called ended up biting down hard on his neck.
According to reports, other workers found Carbajal’s remains in the lion’s cage and called for help.
Unfortunately, the keeper had died before the emergency services got there.
The local councilor for Tulancingo, Fernandez Perez Romero, told reporters the lion would not be put down despite killing the zookeeper.
Romero said authorities would work to reinforce safety measures when working with animals in captivity.
He also said the local council will work to support the victim’s family.
