IGP, Idris shuns Senate

The Inspector General of Police, IGP, Ibrahim Idris on Thursday, without sending a representative or an official response declined appearing before the Nigerian Senate, where he was expected to brief the lawmakers on the ordeal the Chairman, Senate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Senator Dino Melaye.
You will recall that the APC Senator, representing Kogi West in the upper legislative chamber has been arrested by men of the Police and is expected to be arraigned in Kogi on the charges of illegal possession of ammunition.
Mr. Idris was said to have however travelled with President Muhammadu Buhari on a visit to Bauchi State instead.
Anyway the house decided to re-summon the Police boss. He is now expected to appear next week Wednesday at 11am.
Senators who spoke were visibly angry that the Police boss refused to intimate the Senate of his non appearance through a letter.
