Zambian Man Arrested for Stealing Nephew so he could sell him for $1

The Police in Zambia last weekend took into custody a 28-year old man who stole his sister’s six-months old son with the intention of selling him for less than $2 (K7,000.00.)
Richard Mwewa was arrested within hours of breaking into his 19-year old sister’s house and forcefully making away with the infant.
Police spokesperson Esther Mwata Katongo confirmed the arrest adding that three “prospective buyers” have also been taken in alongside the suspect.
“Brief facts are that during the midnight of that day, the named suspect broke into the complainant’s house and entered the bedroom where he allegedly stole the baby whilst the mother who is the complainant was fast asleep,” Katongo stated.
“As the suspect was leaving the bedroom, she woke up and shouted for help and the suspect was apprehended and after searching him, it was discovered that he had stolen the complainants baby which he hid in the coat he was wearing.”
Katongo stated that “After investigations it was revealed that the suspect intended to sell the baby at K7,000.00.
Police apprehended three accomplices. All have been jointly charged with Child Stealing and will appear in court soon.
