Depressed Teacher Falls to Her Death from Shopping Mall In Malaysia


A school teacher at Pasir Puteh district in Kelantan, Malaysia fell to her death from a shopping mall in Ipoh, Perak on Thursday, 19 July.
Berita Harian reported on Thursday that members of the public found Liew Kit Mooi lying motionless near the shopping mall area at about 3.50pm. The police was then informed about the incident by the public.
According to Ipoh police chief ACP Mohd Ali Tamby, the 36-year-old woman fell off from the fifth floor of the building.
He reportedly said that initial investigations show that there was no foul play, adding that there were witnesses who saw the woman plunging down the structure.
Mohd Ali also told Berita Harian that the victim's possessions such as handbag and bracelet were also left untouched at the scene.
Police said that a witness, who was working as a security guard, had tried to stop the woman from loitering around the fifth floor of the shopping mall.
However, the attempt was futile and the woman eventually jumped off the building later, Astro Awani reported.
It is understood that the mother of two had just sent her children for tuition classes in Pekan Lama after teaching in school. However, she did not head home and instead went to the shopping mall.
It was learned that the woman was battling depression.

Utusan Malaysia quoted Mohd Ali as saying that the woman's husband, who was present at the scene, confirmed that the victim had been depressed and had received treatment at the hospital just last week.
According to Mohd Ali, the man told the police that he did not blame any party and admitted that his wife had been unable to cope with heavy workload after having depression.
The body has been sent to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) for a post-mortem.
